The Wreath Statue is a golden corona of oak leaves, acorns and pride. The sculpture depicts a triumphal wreath, which had special meaning in Greek and Etruscan culture. In Greek lore it conveyed status by the virtues of victory and achievement. The diadem of impasto oak leaves represents the wisdom of Zeus, for whom a grove of oaks was sacred. Wreaths like this would have been awarded to commanders who had just won a major battle. And, who doesn’t need that. Gilded metal. Black marble base.
